Super Eagles captain, Mikel obi, spoke about his team 1-0 victory over Burundi at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, on Saturday.
A 2nd-half goal from Shanghai Shehua striker, Odion Ighalo, gave Gernot Rohr’s men all three points against Burundi.
Mikel obi agreed that the Super Eagles were lucky to get the three points against Burundi, stating that the East Africans were tough and very prepared.
“The Group is not an easy one, it is a very tough group,” Mikel Obi told reporters after the match.
“As it is very clear that, they [Burundi] are a very organised team. Very tough to defeat.
“We were very lucky to get a goal and I think we played well.
“We had most of the ball possession but we couldn’t break them down. So it was very important for Nigeria to get the three points.”
Nigeria will take on Guinea in the next game on June 26.
